Sustainability Policy
Last updated: April 2025
At Ravendale Editorial, we believe in stories that endure – and that belief extends to how we operate as a business. We are committed to responsible, low-impact practices that reflect our values of care, clarity, and long-term thinking.
While we are a small, independent service, we recognise that every choice we make has the potential to affect both people and planet. This policy outlines the practical steps we take to reduce our footprint, support ethical tools, and align our work with a sustainable future.
Our Approach
We aim to operate with environmental consciousness in our day-to-day editorial and administrative processes. Though our business is entirely digital, we take additional steps to minimise waste, reduce energy demands, and support ethical technology.
Our ongoing commitments include:
- Operating a fully remote business model, with minimal paper usage
- Using secure, cloud-based tools to avoid printing and postal delivery
- Regularly archiving and deleting unused files to reduce server strain, in line with GDPR and Data Protection legislation
- We avoid high-volume email campaigns and rely on minimal, purpose-driven digital promotion.
- Minimising our use of disposable, branded merchandise or high-emission promotional materials
Where possible, we favour tools and platforms that demonstrate a commitment to data efficiency, carbon-aware infrastructure, or community-positive impact.
Digital Impact and Infrastructure
- We routinely audit our content for clarity and digital lightness
- We limit high-resolution media to necessary areas only, improving both accessibility and energy use
- We are mindful of accessible, low-energy design practices where possible
Donations and Giving Back
We are proud to contribute a portion of our income to environmental and community initiatives. This includes donations made through programs such as Stripe Climate, which supports vetted carbon removal technologies.
In addition, where appropriate, we may also support small-scale literacy charities or open-source sustainability projects aligned with our mission.
We are currently reviewing potential organisations to support. If you have a cause aligned with our mission, we welcome suggestions.
Looking Ahead
Sustainability is an ongoing, reflective practice. We may not be perfect – but we are committed to being intentional, transparent, and flexible in how we learn and evolve.
As Ravendale Editorial grows, we will continue to:
- Review our service providers for environmental responsibility
- Refine our internal workflows to reduce waste
- Remain open to sustainable alternatives across our digital and business practices
- Donate to relevant causes in line with sustainability practices
